Commercial EPC

Commercial EPCs ensure your business property meets energy efficiency standards while identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve performance.

Understanding Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) assess a property’s energy efficiency using a rating system from A (most efficient) to G. The rating is based on standard information about the building’s energy efficiency and carbon emissions, compared to similar properties.

EPCs include a detailed recommendation report outlining improvements to enhance energy efficiency and boost the property’s rating. For commercial properties, an EPC remains valid for 10 years or until a new assessment is completed.

If your property is a new build, a separate Energy Performance Certificate, known as an On Construction Certificate, is required. This certificate must be arranged by the responsible party completing the work to comply with Building Regulations.

When is a commercial EPC required?

When a building is offered for sale or rent, it is the seller’s or landlord’s responsibility to provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) to prospective buyers or tenants free of charge.

An EPC must be commissioned before the property is listed on the market, ensuring it is available at the earliest opportunity. This proactive step is essential to comply with regulations and provide transparency on the property’s energy efficiency.
